Nami feign Luffy as her boss because she wanted to avoid the Buggy’s men and slip away from them. Luffy forcefully attacked the Buggy’s men and defeated them. After that, he asked Nami to join her. However, when he discovered that she is a navigator, he asks her to become part of his pirate crews. Nami does not like pirates so she declines his request. Later, Nami deceived Luffy so that he became bound with ropes and was handed to the Buggy’s men. Luffy was imprisoned in a cage while Nami pretend as one of the Buggy’s men pirate crew.
